September is when we begin to see changes in the trees, crops, and even in the air. It’s the time of year we begin to evaluate the successes and failures for the year. It is best described as harvest time! We believe God is going to give us a great harvest for Helping Neighbors Worldwide Ministries in these next three months as the year starts to wind down.
September is also a sobering time as we remember six years ago September 11, 2001. I was at church praying when the glory of God’s presence came so strongly on me, warning me of impending danger. One hour later planes began to fly into buildings and many people died. We were under attack by a foreign enemy on America soil. 9/11 was indeed a wake up call to America. We need to continue to pray for America and especially for our military sons and daughters in Iraq and other areas of danger.
For years God has been showing America mercy instead of judgment! We are much like Israel when the prophet Habakkuk prayed this prayer by singing it to the Lord. “I have heard all about you, LORD, and I am filled with awe by the amazing things you have done. In this time of our deep need, begin again to help us, as you did in years gone by. Show us your power to save us. And in your anger, remember your mercy.” Habakkuk 3:2
Grace is getting what we don’t deserve and mercy is not getting what we do deserve. America has not earned or deserved God’s great mercy but we have received it. With a renewal of prayer in our churches, families, and individual lives, God will continue to extend His mercy a little longer. If MY people will humble themselves and pray!
Special Event - October Fest - Friday October 19th - 6:00 PM.
You are invited to join us for a special appreciation dinner on Friday night, October 19th at 6PM at Christian Life Center, 183rd. & Ridgeland in Tinley Park. We are trying something different this year and having our dinner in October. Since it will be in October, one of our Board members, Herr Jack Wagner, has volunteered to be the Fest Meister and is planning a great event. We have overheard a few of the committee plans and it looks like the smell of brats and sauerkraut might be in the air, as well as many other delicious foods. This event is open to all of our prayer partners, supporters and ministries. In fact, this is a good time to invite a friend that would be interested in hearing more about the ministries of Helping Neighbors Worldwide Ministries.
Please RSVP by email to:
Prayer Need
The Prayer Across America RV is still available! We have not found the right buyer yet and the Board is discussing using it as asset and making it available for ministry opportunities. Obviously there is a cost to putting it on the road, but the Board is really seeking the Lord’s will on using the RV for His Glory and Kingdom purposes. Please pray about this big decision and for great wisdom for the Board as they make decisions.
Off to China
One of our Board members, Tom, is off to China for a couple of months on a work assignment (too bad the RV doesn’t float!). Tom will not be officially on a ministry for Helping Neighbors, but since God goes with us wherever we go, we know Tom and his wife Cindy will be used for Kingdom purposes! Please keep Tom and Cindy in your prayers as they travel and are far from home. We will miss them but we are thankful for email!
Dear Friend,
J. Phillip and Vicki Epperson & the Board of Helping Neighbors Worldwide Ministries
Bless you for caring !
