Pastor and Vicki just returned from Washington D.C., Next month we will share some on the events and news that happened.
July is known for Independence Day or as they call it in England, Insurrection day. Yes, July 4th was celebrated all over America! We were celebrating our freedom from an oppressive government but also freedom to have the privilege of worshiping God as we please. This all came about with great sacrifice...
When I read some of the great sacrifices of our founding fathers to give us this great land and the wonderful freedom we all enjoy, I realize how little sacrifice I personally have made. But yet, it was ordinary people who paid the price for freedom. They were merchants, farmers, clergymen and lawyers, men who stood to lose their wealth and standing in society who signed their names to the document we~ cherish+ the Declaration of Independence.
John Hart, signer from New Jersey, had to flee the deathbed of his wife, leaving his 13 children to disperse into hiding from the British. When he returned a year later he found his wife had passed away, his children were missing, and his livelihood had been destroyed. He died within weeks, dejected and alone.
At the Battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., signer from Virginia encouraged General Washington to fire on Nelson’s own house, which was being used as headquarters by General Cornwallis. Without a home and having lost his fortunes in the war, Nelson died bankrupt. No, it was not easy for America to become the land of the free and the home of the brave! It came with great sacrifice! David said, “I will not offer to God that which cost me nothing!”
Secondly, the spirit of oppression remains very much alive all over the world. One area of great concern is the nation of Israel, surrounded by nations where democracy is despised.
Since Vicki and I committed ourselves to the Washington, D.C. Israel Summit, spiritual warfare has truly intensified for us. As we get closer to the departure date of the Summit July 16-19, please increase your prayer support in our behalf and for the Summit as well!
We also humbly request your financial support for the complete ministry of Helping Neighbors Worldwide Ministries. We try not to say too much about the financial needs but we just ended our fiscal year on June 30th. and for the year our expenses were $3,000 more than support (Which is not a good thing.)
This is a bit unusual as we have enjoyed so many months and years of me?ting expenses. It would be great if someone would send a kind note and a check for $3,000 but it our experience that this is not how God wants this ministry to work. Our support comes from dear friends and faithful prayer partners who send checks for $10, $25, $50 and sometimes $100 to support this ministry. Each individual is very important to this ministry and we would ask for your prayer and financial support. A little is much before God. I will never forget what the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart as we traveled from Oklahoma City to Santa Fe, New Mexico with Prayer across America, “I will bless those who bless you!” It is my prayer that you be blessed greatly today!
Dear Friend,
Please join us as we press on in challenging churches everywhere we go; to get back to prayer, and believe God for another rekindling of another Great Awakening for America!
J. Phillip and Vicki Epperson & the Board of Helping Neighbors Worldwide Ministries
Bless you for caring !
