The assignment to pray at every capital and pray the prayers the Holy Spirit gave us is now complete. Only the Holy Spirit knows the work that will be accomplished in the next few years. There is a hunger for God on the west and east coast, much like I remember in the early days of revival during my youth. The places we dreaded going to most, became our greatest inspiration.
As we enter 2006, we are already seeing many of the prayers we prayed in each capital, coming to pass. Political changes on both sides of the aisle are happening. When we prayed for our state and national leaders, we prayed David’s prayer in Psalm 125:5 “Banish those who turn to crooked ways,
O Lord!” God has heard our prayers!
One of the eleven prayers we prayed at each capital was the Prayer of Thanksgiving. The spirit of thanksgiving seems to be so lacking in many parts of the country. We are especially thankful for our safe return, health and happiness of family and friends.
Our greatest disappointment was the lack of interest or concern by many churches for the prayers we would pray in their state at their capitol building.
We want to quickly add that there was truly a remnant of souls who had a burden for prayer and made every effort to join us and encourage us.
There are not enough words, time, or space to share how beautiful America is! There is also great sadness and tragedy, even as we traveled from capital to capital; we would see the human neglect and the sorrow that accompanied many hurting hearts.
It was so great to be with so many friends at our Helping Neighbors Celebration Dinner on December 29th. There were over 170 people in attendance, and by God’s Grace and the RSVPs that we received, we had enough food and chairs for everyone. Thank you very much to everyone who RSVPed, and worked with us to make it a great event. Special thanks to the Board Members who worked, paid for, and made this great evening possible so that so many of our supporters and friends could get together and see the bigger picture of the ministry. The comments that we heard the most was that it was like a family reunion, it was great to see old time friends. People also expressed that they had no idea that Helping Neighbors was involved in so many ministries! Similar thought was that this ministry is bigger than Pastor Epperson! Helping Neighbors is definitely a good work that the Lord is doing!
